The XI International Forum “Arctic projects: Today and the Future” takes place in Arkhangelsk on December 14-15, 2023

Maxim Elmanov, the General Manager of CDC LLC, and Vasiliy Strugov, the Executive manager of CDC LLC, participate in business events of the Forum.

At the conference “Resources and solutions for development of offshore and shore infrastructure in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation” Vasiliy Strugov gave a speech drawing attention to the fact that as of 2024 dredging facilities for implementation of advanced projects within the Northern Sea Route (NSR) area are in drastically short supply in our country.

To provide capacities for implementation of improved infrastructure projects in the years 2025-2030, it is required to determine and decide on what types of vessels are the most suitable for long-term exploitation in the navigation season, – Vasiliy Strugov clarified.

For efficient and profitable exploitation, dredging vessels should comply with the requirements of exploitation of equipment in arctic conditions. Ice reinforcement class renders it possible to extend the work performance period in average by 30% per season (about 4 weeks) and expand geographical spread of exploitation of vessels during autumn and winter period owing to a feasibility of transition to Asia and the Pacific via NSR.

In conclusion, Vasiliy Strugov emphasized a necessity to contemplate an option of establishment of joint ventures (private and/or with public ownership, establishment of a branch-specific operator), in order to combine resources/equipment and provide thereby permanent exploitation of vessels at infrastructure projects.
